Le nozze di Figaro – new production, directed by Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Barbara Gaines

Mozart’s masterpiece of mistaken identities, morals, and manners.  The resourceful Figaro is ready to marry the lovely Susanna, but the Count has his eye on Susanna too!  Can Figaro outwit his lecherous employer?

 

 

 

La Cenerentola – new to Chicago production

Cinderella toils away for her stepfather and stepsisters.  But when the Prince comes to town, there’s a chance for a happy-ever-after ending for this maid with a heart of gold.  Don’t miss Rossini’s bubbling, delightful, and infectious melodies in this”triumphant, dazzling proudction.” Houston Chronicle

 

 

 

Nabucco – the opera that made Verdi a star returns to Lyric after more than 15 years.

Experience Nabucco’s journey from despised despot to grateful father redeemed by faith.  This Verdi treasure has some of the greatest choral music ever written, including the soul-stirring “Va, pensiero”.
