10   “Palio”
The trumpets, the costumes, the fierce competition, the breathless crowds watching horses run their hearts out around the enormous piazza — this is Siena’s famous Palio race, run since medieval times. In this thrilling documentary, an upstart jockey challenges the jockey who mentored him for the victory and the glory.

17   “Perfetti sconosciuti”  Perfect Stranges
Longtime friends and their spouses meet for dinner when one proposes they reveal all the texts and calls they receive on the “black box of our lives” — their phones. Secrets, hidden motives, even infidelities and a pregnancy get revealed under the darkness of an eclipse happening that evening, making it all seem unreal. But is it?

12   “Fai bei sogni” Sweet Dreams

A man builds a rewarding career as a journalist and embarks on a relationship with a pretty doctor, all while still healing from the unexpected death of his mother when he was 9. Valerio Mastandrea turns in a compelling portrayal; we journey with him in putting the puzzle pieces of his life together and learning a secret kept from him for decades.

19   “Se Dio vuole” God Willing
Brilliant surgeon Tommaso wants his son to follow him into a medical career, but the youth is distracted and the family suspects he’s gay. Nope. He’s decided to become a priest. Tommaso, an atheist, confronts the charismatic priest who he suspects has brainwashed his son. Marco Giallini provides depth to this comedy, which defies predictable plot twists.
