HER LIFE, LEGACY AND MISSION IN CHICAGO
Saturday, June 10 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark Street, Chicago
We are excited to announce a very important event! As part of the Centenary of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, a panel of Chicago scholars and historians will explore the extraordinary impact and legacy of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini on the city of Chicago in the areas of education, healthcare and social welfare.
Presenters will be:
Dr. Dominic Candeloro, professor, historian, author, former Executive Director of the American Italian Historical Association and curator of the Library at Casa Italia
Dr. Sandro Corso, author and Director of Education for the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago
Ellen Skerrett, Chicago Historian, Author and Reseacher
Sister Joan McGlinchey, member of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Vicar for Religious of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Thomas I. Volini, Executive Vice-President Collier’s International Advisory Group. Tom is the great grandson and grandson of Drs. Camillo Volini and Italo Volini, who worked closely along-side Mother Cabrini as founders of Columbus and Cabrini Hospitals and allies in her social welfare outreach.
The conference will take place from 1:00-3:00 pm, with presentations, coffee break and questions and answers. Sponsors include the National Shrine of Mother Cabrini, the Chicago History Museum, Casa Italia Chicago, and the Italian American Studies Program at Loyola University Chicago. While there is no charge for this event, seating is limited and reservations are necessary.
