Tony De Nonno will take you on an enlightening journey into the life of Antonio Meucci, the true inventor of the telephone and the 19th Century “Age of Invention. The centerpiece of this exciting presentation is Antonio Meucci’s powerful one man battle against the Bell Company, and Meucci’s compelling court case, testimony, drawings and documents chronicling the inventor’s remarkable 20-year perfection of his telephone invention in Staten Island, New York. Students will also virtually tour Meucci’s home in Staten Island, New York – which today is a national landmark; The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum – a museum which honors Antonio Meucci, the true inventor of the telephone – and Giuseppe Garibaldi, the legendary general/Italian Liberator & “Hero of Two Worlds”.
From the beginning of this lecture to its end, Tony De Nonno engages everyone to be active participants— sharing their knowledge about Alexander Graham Bell the original “Age of Invention.” Together they discover the remarkable connection between the 19th Century Age of Invention and the advancements in telephone technology that have touched our lives in this incredible, 21st Century version of the “Age of Invention.” Ultimately they discover they have access to entire body of global knowledge, history, science, history and civilization, from the dawn of our Solar System to a view of life— hundreds and even thousands of years from now.
This presentation will also include the screening of Tony De Nonno’s acclaimed TV/Educational documentary — Antonio Meucci: The Father of the Telephone.
